Lot requirements and documents

Lot acceptance requirements

These requirements apply to acid high-moor sphagnum peat without lime or fertilizer.

We accept and ship a lot of acid sphagnum peat only with a laboratory report for that lot, and only if the results meet this table. Limed peat and sphagnum moss follow a specification agreed in the contract.

ParameterRequirementMethod
Peat typehigh-moor, sphagnumbotanical composition
pH2.5–3.5KCl suspension
pH3.0–4.5water suspension (H2O)
Degree of decompositionmax. 20%as stated in the report
Ash contentmax. 10%dry basis
Moisturemax. 65%at shipment
Organic mattermin. 80%dry basis
Electrical conductivity (EC)max. 0.2 mS/cmas stated in the report
Fractions0–10 mm, 0–20 mm, 10–20 mm, 20–40 mm, 0–40 mmsieve analysis

pH measured in a KCl suspension and pH measured in water give different values, so every report states both.

Documents for each lot

  • Laboratory report of the lot
  • Phytosanitary certificate
  • Certificate of origin
  • Packing list and specification

A buyer can order an independent test of a sample by agreement.

  • Other packaged peat and growing media for sowing or planting contain no soil, and the certificate states fumigation or heat treatment.
  • Soil may not be imported into Turkey. The lot contains no soil.
  • Wooden pallets carry the ISPM 15 mark.
